Cette toile a été peinte juste avant l’expropriation de l’aéroport de Mirabel.
Kurt Maurer est le parfait exemple d’un peintre peu connu et sous-estimé alors qu’il a connu une longue et belle carrière. Il sillonnait les basses Laurentides à la recherche des coins bucoliques et des plus beaux villages de cette région.
Ce tableau est tout à fait typique de son œuvre avec la grange à l’avant plan dont le bois est d’un réalisme époustouflant, l’église juchée dans le milieu du village et l’impressionnisme du champ labouré au printemps avec son mélange de terre, d’eau et de neige.
Ce sont les petits détails qui rendent ce tableau si attrayant. Les fenêtres des maisons, le clocher de l’église, les vaches qui broutent dans le champ de la ferme au fond à gauche, les fines branches des arbres.
Par-dessus tout, ce sont les ciels qui sont la marque de commerce de ce peintre. Le ciel occupe toujours le plus gros de l’espace du tableau et sa réalisation est toujours très impressionnante sachant qu’il est techniquement très difficile de peindre un ciel.

This painting was painted just before the expropriation of Mirabel Airport.
Kurt Maurer is the perfect example of a painter little known and underestimated although he had a long and successful career. He roamed the lower Laurentians looking for the bucolic corners and the most beautiful villages of this region.
This painting is typical of his work with the barn in front plan whose wood is of a breathtaking realism, the church perched in the middle of the village and the impressionism of the field plowed in the spring with his mixture of earth, water and snow.
It is the small details that make this artwork so attractive. Windows on the houses, the bell tower of the Church, the cows that graze in the field of the farm at the far left, the fine branches of trees.
Above all, it is the skies that are the trademark of this painter. The sky always occupies most of the space of the painting and its realization is always very impressive knowing that it is technically very difficult to paint a sky.
